How to order and pay

Updated: 29 October 202624 views

Everything on sale is ordered the same way: configure the plan, review the cart, sign in, and pay the invoice that is created for you. Prices are in US dollars and no separate tax line is added.

1. Choose the plan

Open the plan you want from the store or from the product page it is listed on, and press the order button. The configuration screen is where you set the things that change the price:

  • Billing period: monthly, quarterly, six-monthly or annual, depending on what the plan offers. The periods shown are the only ones available for that plan.
  • Domain: register a new one, transfer one in, or tell us the domain you already own and will point here yourself.
  • Options: any extras the plan carries, such as a different operating system template on a server.

2. Review the cart

The cart lists every line with its period and its total. This is where a promotion code goes, if you have one; the discount is shown on the line it applies to before you continue. You can keep shopping and add a second plan or a domain to the same order.

3. Sign in or create an account

Checkout requires an account. There is no guest checkout, because every service has to belong to someone who can later manage it, get the renewal notice and open a ticket about it. Creating an account takes an e-mail address, a password and your billing details.

Use real billing details. They go on the invoice, and for a domain order they also go to the registry as the registrant contact.

4. Accept the terms and pay

You are asked to accept the Terms of Service at checkout. The order is then placed and an invoice is created immediately. You can pay it two ways:

  1. By card, through Stripe. The card details are entered on the payment page and are held by the payment provider, not by us. Your bank may ask you to confirm the payment in its own app.
  2. From account credit, if your account holds a balance that covers the invoice. Credit is applied to the invoice automatically when there is any; you can also apply part of it and pay the rest by card.

After the payment

A paid order is accepted automatically and the service is built without anyone having to touch it. The invoice, the order and the new service all appear in your client area. If nothing appears, see What happens after you pay, which explains the one case where an order waits for a person.
